The second research visit to Iran for the research team from the IER institute

In-Energy-I (“Innovations for transition pathways to a sustainable energy future in Iran under conditions of low energy prices”) is a joint research project among the SE3T group and the Institute of Energy Economics and Rational Energy Use (IER) of the University of Stuttgart being supported by the German Ministry of Science and Technology. The project aims at the implementation of technical, social and political innovations at different levels to increase the energy efficiency of the Iranian energy sector. With this regard, the research team from the IER institute planned the second research visit to Iran from 19-24 January 2019. During this visit, several technical and managerial meetings were held to conclude the case studies and high priority research activities in the scope of the project. The second meeting of the steering committee of the project was hosted by the Iranian Department of the Environment. A site-visit to Varamin city and meetings with the governor and other corresponding authorities of Varamin was held to discuss the main energy-water-food efficiency options in the area. Another site-visit to the Darjan village in Mazandaran province, as a potential rural case study of the project, was done. Finally, the trip was concluded with meetings with the village planning office of the Iranian Ministry of Interior and other joint venture companies of the project.
